Kory Wood: EIGHT Election Victories

The dust has settled on November 7th, and the results have been tallied. Our team has been all in for our clients in their municipal elections. Overall, our team helped bring home EIGHT wins, and we couldn’t be more excited to share these results with you. In Indiana, we took home seven wins, including a highly contested and closely watched win for Sue Finkam as the next mayor of Carmel, as well as a historic victory in Marion that elected Ronald Morrell Jr. as mayor. Morrell will be the first African American mayor of Marion and the first African American Republican mayor in Indiana.

These wins wouldn’t have been possible without the tireless efforts of the Ascent Strategic team. We delivered 233,594 pieces of mail to voters across Indiana, so many text messages and live calls that our phones team said they “might genuinely die” trying to calculate it, and countless man-hours helping our clients to cross the finish line.

These municipal elections were indeed a team effort between our clients, their volunteers, and our team. We offer a huge congratulations to all who took part in this effort and to our victorious clients below:

Sue Finkam – Carmel, IN Mayor
Ronald Morrell Jr. – Marion, IN Mayor
Russ Touchberry –Summerville, SC Mayor
Adam Aasen – Carmel, IN City Council Southeast District
Tony Green – Carmel, IN City Council South Central District

How Real Campaigns Actually Win Elections

The Stuff No One Tells You About Hiring Your Campaign Staff

By Derek Dufresne (Partner) If there’s one thing I’ve learned after enough campaign cycles to measure my life in yard signs, it’s this: your team will make or break you long before voters do. Candidates obsess over messaging, polling, yard signs, and TV ads— but the...

What Voters See Before They Hear You

By Amanda Biundo (VP of Creative & Marketing) Before a voter reads a word or listens to a sentence, they have already formed a judgment. It happens in the blink of an eye, and research shows people form first impressions in as little as 50 milliseconds. That...
