Mike Biundo on 2024: What does it mean for your campaign?

Shortly after Election Day, on November 8, 2022, the “experts” in the national media, pundits, and politicos all started touting that Governor Ron DeSantis would be the next GOP nominee for President. The polls and that moment in time predicted and demanded it. One year, some technical difficulties, and a few lousy footwear choices later, Ambassador Nikki Haley, the last woman standing, has dropped out of the race for President, thus unofficially ending the presidential nomination chapter of this 2024 election story (though one can argue it really ended after New Hampshire).

One thing I know for sure is that a lot will be said and dissected by these same “experts” about what happened. We will have countless hours of content discussing how Trump made one of the most improbable comebacks in modern times and how that comeback will impact the rest of the races in 2024. I don’t have a crystal ball, but if you are (or are considering) running for office, take a deep breath.

Don’t listen to the made-for-TV pundits and outside experts telling you how a Trump/Biden matchup is either the worst or best thing for your election chances because, truth be told, they don’t know. So much can happen between now and November 5th; so many pages are left to be written if you are running for the right reasons. If you’re an authentic candidate with a compelling message who has made the calls for money and support, is willing to put in the hard work and long days, and is committed to being the best candidate you can be in a winnable district – put your head down and win this thing. Make a bet on yourself. The outside noise is just that: noise. Every race is different, and every circumstance is unique, but winning a winnable seat requires you to believe in yourself and earn it. If you have those things, 2024 can be your year. You just have to want it.

Promotions & New Hires

We’re always looking for ways to service our clients better and grow our offerings to you. As our graphic design needs have expanded, we have hired a Junior Designer to serve your needs better. We are excited to welcome David Haren to the Ascent team. David recently graduated from Full Sail University with a B.S. in Graphic Design, focusing on Logo Design and Brand Development.

Along with our new hire, we have two promotions to note for our exceptional team members. Austin Buholtz, an Account Executive, will now be a Senior Account Executive as he continues to work with our clients directly on operational and phone project needs and execution. Austin has been with the Ascent team for nearly 2.5 years as a full-time staff member and previously worked as an intern with us.

Mark Warner, formerly titled Senior Account Executive, has seen his role grow since he joined our team a little over two years ago. Many of you, especially in Indiana, have gotten to know him as he works on client projects and business development needs. Mark will now be entering the role of Director of Client Success.

As our team grows, we want to congratulate them on their achievements, as they are well deserved, so please join us in recognizing David, Austin, and Mark.

We craft strategies to help you win.

At Ascent Strategic, we devise winning strategies for candidates and political organizations. We'd love to see what we can help you achieve.

The Stuff No One Tells You About Hiring Your Campaign Staff

By Derek Dufresne (Partner) If there’s one thing I’ve learned after enough campaign cycles to measure my life in yard signs, it’s this: your team will make or break you long before voters do. Candidates obsess over messaging, polling, yard signs, and TV ads— but the...
